Practicing Pure Land Mahayana Buddhism in the Japanese Tradition

Oregon Buddhist Temple

The Oregon Buddhist Temple was "founded in 1903 (making it the oldest Buddhist organization in Oregon) under the auspicies of Nishi Hongwanji, the largest school of Jodo Shinshu.... (Affiliated with the Buddhist Churches of America, the temple practices a Pure Land stream of Mahayana Buddhism."

"We grew up in the Japanese-American community and about two out of three of our members are Japanese-American. We welcome persons of all ethnicity, political affiliation and religious affiliation."

The Oregon Buddhist Temple has regular services, on Sundays, and also classes on various other days of the week. Classes cover various topics, including Buddhist philosophy, history and spirituality.
